Overview
When Gruham Asmi came to me, they were clear about one thing — they didn't want a template. Every real estate site the founder had seen felt the same: stock villa photos, a generic "Contact Us Today" button, nothing that matched who he actually was. Founded in 1982 around land banking, farmland, and luxury property in Delhi's Lutyens Zone, his brief wasn't a feature list — it was a feeling: cinematic, warm, a little old-money, entirely his own taste. Alongside the design and build, I set up the site's on-page SEO too — meta titles, descriptions, sitemap, and clean URLs — so it was actually discoverable, not just good-looking. We started in Figma and went through a few rounds together until the direction felt unmistakably his, then I built it out in Next.js and handled everything after that too — buying the domain, setting up hosting, DNS, SSL, the whole launch — so what shipped was the exact site he signed off on, not a compromised version of it.
The Brief
Gruham Asmi's founder, Sir Brij Mohan Sachdev, has been in land banking and real estate since 1982 — plots, farmland, in-house financing, and luxury property in Delhi's Lutyens Zone. When he came to me for the website, he had one rule that mattered more than any feature list: no template feel. He'd already seen enough real estate sites that looked like every other real estate site, and he didn't want his to be one of them. The brand line, "I Am Home," was already his — the site just had to actually earn it.
Designing Around His Taste, Not a Template
We didn't start from a real estate site checklist. We started from what he actually responded to — cinematic villa photography, a dark, warm palette, gold serif type that reads closer to a private members' club than a listings page. I designed the whole thing in Figma first, and we went back and forth on it more than once — the hero, how "Our Story" should sit next to the imagery, how "Our Vision" and "Our Mission" should read together, how much room to leave the photos to breathe. Nothing went into code until he was genuinely happy with it, not just approving it because it was good enough.
From Figma to a Live Site
Once the design was signed off, I built it out in Next.js section by section, matching the Figma file closely instead of loosely "getting the idea across." Then I handled everything past the code too — bought the domain, set up hosting, configured DNS and SSL, and pushed it live myself. He didn't have to touch any of the technical side; the first thing he saw after approving the design was the finished site running on his own domain.
The Result
gruhamasmi.com is live now, and it looks and reads the way he wanted it to from day one — not a real estate template with his logo dropped in, but a site built around how he actually talks about the business. That was the whole point of doing it this way.
